German BBQ Forum Party - warning, dont open when hungry
Last weekend we had one of our mybbq.net forum partys in Marburg, in the heart of germany.
You cant imagine how much fun, good food and adult beverages we had this weekend. 600 miles drive for me but definately worth it.
I cooked a giant vertical version of "Al Pastor" on my pig roaster and convinced a vegan to eat his first meat after 20 years this way. http://mybbq.net/forum/images/smiles/s_cool.gif
Needless to say that he had Rib eyes off my mini BGE for dessert
and started his breakfast next morning with leftover BBQ meatloaf.
Bring it on, PETA, next one please http://mybbq.net/forum/images/smiles/icon_mrgreen.gif
Here we go :
Some shots of the location and people :
I had the Mini Egg aka personal-vulcano burning all weekend for ribeyes and other goodies
Atomic Buffalo turds and Atomic Rabbit turds
Al Pastor - marinated pork butt grilled on a rotisserie with onion and pineapple slices.
I used Olive wood and pineapple skin for smoke, the flavour was out of this world.
We served it with grilled tortillas, sour cream, cilantro, cheddar cheese and fresh squeezed limes.
a mix of other great foods
Mee(a)t our die hard vegan - before the al pastor :
while eating it his first meat after 20 years
And the second portion...
Besides the barbecue, some even found the time to do some sightseeing
I´m looking forward to our next party in Marburg very much.
Anyone need an invite ?
time for my granola
You guys need to learn how to party.
Thanks for the pron. Some great looking food and happy people right there.
Your photo albums are always wonderful. Whats the last pic? A cave?
Its a dripstone cave, there are many of those in the area.
I should have paid more attention to the title
I just bit a chunk outta my coffee cup:roll:
Looks like a good tilt.I love the keg's
Thanks for sharing DM.
Gotta go find some breakfast now because of all your outstanding phots.
(and you did warn us in advance.....)
Really nice going.
Another outstanding party that I missed out on! Nice job on the "conversion" and the pron Don!
I should have eaten breakfast before going through this thread. I almost passed out twice before I finished reading.
That is some of the best looking party food I have seen. It made me proud of my German heritage. The grill on the tripod suspended with the chain is an interesting setup.
The first thing really comes to mind is "HOLY CRAP!"
That is outstanding and it looks like a lot of fun was had by all.
One question though: Why would anyone want to convert a vegan?
The way I look at it, the more vegans there are, the more meat there is for me!
