Just another test a while ago.
200g fresh coffee bean. 170 after roasted
It seems that Roaster temperature is not important.
You need to judge by ears and eyes.
So this Roaster does not need a thermostat.
You need only to stand beside.
280C seems too low to have first crack.
The gases must escape slowly and result in no first crack
When I hear crack, obvious smoke was out of roaster, I pulled barrel out, and bean had been deep roasted
Or I shall set Roaster temperature at 320C for 14 minutes, then lower to 230C for medium roasted, or lower to 235C for deep roasted. but still need eyes and ears to judge. But 320C save big time

Find problem.
There are too many perforated holes.
I sealed center row of hole by mud.
It works!
I set roaster at 320C
I hear first crack in about 7 minutes, and first crack ends in 2 minutes.
It is perfect!
