Results of our Taste of Dallas show this weekend.
I wish I could be the bearer of good news and say we had a great show but I can't. This was (hands down) the worst show we've ever done. It was so bad that we packed up at 7:30 pm Saturday and left. The show ran through Sunday at 8:00 pm. People are unpredictable to begin with and large groups of people are really unpredictable.
But this crowd didn't show up to buy but rather simply get free samples of food and walk around. These trade shows are a risk and many times can be a crap shoot. There are so many variables that factor into it that getting a "feel" on how things will go is next to impossible. But midway through Saturday we knew without a shadow of a doubt that this show had quickly turned into a lemon. So we cut our losses, packed up and exited stage right.
Our next stop is Lafayette, LA in two weeks. We attended it last year and it was a big success. We're looking forward to going down there. They seem to always have a good crowd.
Well, that sucks. Still though, what can you expect from a buncha folks who think beef is barbeque...
I keed, I keed. (Or do I? :bolt:) Better luck in LaFAYette!
LOL! The show wasn't well put together. They charged people $10 to get in and it cost $5 to park. That's $15 spent before you ever walk in the doors. The $10 ticket was only good for that day. A lot of the shows we go to the admission price is good all weekend. That way people feel like they're getting a deal and are more open to buy. They can come one day to look and have a good time. Then the next day they come back to buy. But you live and learn.
