What's the difference?
Between a Tri-Tip and a Tip Roast (sirloin tip roast)?

I can't seem to find any tri-tips around here and was wondering if these are basically the same thing. Thanks.

Tri-tip is cut from the Bottom Sirloin. Can't say for sure where your Sirloin Tip Roast is from.
If it is the same thing, that is an exceptional price on it. They go for almost twice that around here (when I can find them).

According to THIS, the sirloin tip comes from the round, whereas the tri tip comes from the sirloin.

I'm no expert, but since they come from totally different places, I'm not sure they'd be very similar.

Thanks. I cooked and sliced one similar to tri-tip a couple weeks ago and was very happy with the results.
