Wood stove as firebox?

I'm pretty excited by the idea of this.

But I didn't want to hijack.

Has anyone used an old parlor stove as a firebox?
Non catalytics are illegal here and pretty easy to get. I don't think it matters outdoors (yet).
Here's what I'm looking at.
It even comes with the pipe and dampers.

I've thought about it a few times, but never have done it. Most of these stove are made out of cast iron which will make it difficult to weld unless you have the proper equipment.

I have had the same thought.I been looking for one on the cheap.I have a huge SS commercial freezer(non working) that I want to turn into a smoker and use one of those as the smoke generator.

A former Carribean/BBQ fusion joint here in town, now a Taco Joint uses this commercially. Looks like the exact same stove with the legs removed.

This is a link to photo's of Teleking's build. He is a member here but I haven't seen much activity from him lately. You could try sending him a PM if you have ?s, he does check in from time to time.

I like it. I'm thinking of something a little fancier on a Harbor Freight trailer.

IDK, you'll need to get in touch with Teleking for the particulars.

Teleking 04-03-2013 06:43 AM

It's a well pressure tank with a no weld build.

Are those wood stoves, or COAL stoves ??

Bill

Teleking 04-03-2013 12:04 PM

Awesome! I didn't see the detail pics at first.
The collar right into the smoke chamber would save a lot of fittings.
Is the air damper on the stove enough to control temp?

Teleking 04-04-2013 05:55 AM

The horizontal off set needed more holes drilled for air for thin blue. The up right was good to go with a small fire at the front of the stove.
