Vinegar Slaw
I am looking for a good vinegar based slaw recipe...
I am sorry if this is a double post, but all I saw were mayo based slaw recipes. However I am pretty sure I saw a vinegar slaw recipe here a while back. Any help would be appreciated! Thsnks!! |
Looking forward to some informative replies. Would love to have a good recipe as well.

Re: Vinegar Slaw
Google I fought the slaw and the slaw won. Its one I found on the bye sight that a Guy named elder Ward posted that's supposed to be from a Jack Daniels cookbook. IRS unique and very tasty!

Based on the two times I tried vinegar slaw in Alabama, I am not sure there is any good recipe.

I found the recipe for you...Most people we've served it to seem to like it!
Mary Lee's, "I Fought the Slaw and The Slaw Won". These are from the Jack Daniel's old time Barbecue cookbook by Vince Staten. (with an Elder Ward twist) · 3 LBS. cabbage · 3 ribs of celery · 1 onion (yellow) · 1 bell pepper · 3 carrots · 2 C sugar (Hawaiian or turbinado/sugar in the raw when you can get it.) Shred, chop or dice all and mix with sugar. Set cabbage mixture aside. · 1/2 Cup of white vinegar · 1/2 Cup of Apple Cider vinegar · 1/2 C olive oil (my twist) · 1 tsp celery seed · 1 tsp (kosher salt) Bring all to a boil and pour over cabbage mixture and chill overnight. |
