When does brisket go on sale?

Is there a certain time of year, particularly up north?

Smoothsmoke 01-16-2013 05:03 PM

st. patricks day

Trumpstylz 01-16-2013 05:09 PM

I usually only see corned beef brisket around paddys day, but I guess I never really checked the unmodified brisket.

Grabnabber 01-16-2013 05:24 PM

Never drops below $6/pound around here.

Unless you go to RD..... much better $$$$.

When the supply exceeds demand, If the drought continues early summer should see a price drop.

expatpig 01-16-2013 05:49 PM

Is this a trick question?...here goes, when the price goes down?

bigabyte 01-16-2013 07:55 PM

Well, it's more complicated than just being seasonal, but demand is typically lowest in the period between St. Patricks Day and Easter.

Definitely a trick question - the answer is "after they slaughter the ox!!!"

What he said. You can barely see a full packer anywhere around Chicago at the major grocery stores let alone a sale. RD is your best bet. :icon_cool

Here in Texas i find my best sales around Memorial Day and July 4th & usually stock up then.

Offthehook 01-17-2013 09:06 PM

Here in california I have never seen a packer in the store. Only restaurant depot or sometimes smart and final.

Flats are $4.26/lb at Sam's. (Batavia)
