Real Quick...Should Turkey Rest?
Should it and if so, how long?

Brian in Maine 11-22-2012 11:01 AM

Yes. 20 minutes to 1/2 hour.

BobM 11-22-2012 11:07 AM

30 minutes minimum UNFOILED! Unless you want to ruin the skin.

Def don't want to ruin the skin. It's absolutely my favorite part of the turkey.:biggrin1:
Thanks for the help!

JazzyBadger 11-22-2012 12:15 PM

You guys leave the skin on?! All this time I've been taking it off, melting it down, and drinking it. Wonder what I'm missing out on..

Yes, all large pieces of cooked meat should rest. I rest my turkey
loosely rented with foil for 20-30 minutes.

LMAJ 11-22-2012 12:21 PM

Yep - all meat benefits from a rest. The larger the longer.

samfsu 11-22-2012 01:46 PM

+100 on resting 30 min.

buccaneer 11-22-2012 02:41 PM

Absolutely yes.
They are big birds that can fly at 55MPH and run at 25MPH and that is very tiring.
They can't see chit at night so that is the best time, just pop them high on a branch in a tree.
