Family reunion cook
This is how we roll down in tx. Got here @7 and filled up the pit with post oak, burned it down to coals, flipping and mopping every 15 min for 2 hrs till everything is done. If it gets too Hott, take some dirt from a bucket and shovel, throw it on the coals. It's my favorite style Of cooking.

The lord  has granted us another family gathering of cherished memories, hospitable personalities, how the world has changed Discussions and great food that I had the pleasure in helping prepare. Of course you know where I was at  ::) where the beer and Cookin was
Smashed German potatoes with cheese and sour team, chicken halves, beef and pork sausage with the perfect snap, good ol vinegar cole slaw, Texas red sauce for dippin, bread onions as pickle spears. I am rotund and happy right now
These fire pits have cooked food for our family since the early 1800's. They need a little work every year, but it's tradition. We used to have hundreds every reunion, it dwindles a little every year. We only cooked 100 chickens and 2 cases of sausage.  Time for some samples of peach cobbler, pecan pie, German chocolate and iron skillet apple pie with a scoop of homemade vanilla bluebell!

Yeah, we always make a little more than the rsvps and if there is anything left, we auction the plates off at the end. Thanks for the views and comments brethren
