Pigeon can be used to upgrade old type of wood pellet smoker for better temperature control. Country Smoker and Traeger wood pellet smoker controls temperature by preset settings of low, medium and high. Auger motor runs and stops at pre-set time intervals and in turn controls temperature. Environtmental temperature, wind, rain, quality of pellet must be different from case to case or from place to place or from day to day, fixed preset will not suit for all conditions. BBQ forums report that certain wood pellet smoker has temperature fluctuation of as high as 30 F. Pigeon is smarter enough, and it knows when and how often to turn on or turn off the auger motor, in turn temperature is much more precise, and temperature fluctuation is as less as 1 F. Pigeon has 2 probes, one for smoker, the other for meat. Different from other dual probe controllers, Pigeon controls fire strength of a smoker by meat probe at same time limits maximum temperature of smoker. Result is that "doness" is under exact control and at same time over burn of meat surface is avoided. Pigeon has much more clever and reliable ramping down/up. WIFI model of Hawk and Wireless Remote Controlled Model of Eagle are still under development.

I purchased one of the earlier for US models. Had to correct the wiring. It works great now. The vendor/maker knows about the issue and has likely has corrected the problem. I may of been the first 120VAC customer. Very accurate and control my electric smoker. Heat sinking by the aluminium housing is adequate for a 13A load, surface temperature was about 130F. I would not try 19A without additional heat sinking or cooling fan. I think the danger zone for the SSR is 150F. Needed to bag the controller from the bright sunlight to read the LED display. This will be an issue with all LED controllers. When the controller comes out with LCD instead of the LED, I might buy another one.

Best to warn up the smoker plugged directly, put on the meat, program the controller indoors, then attach the controller. Current use the controller to smoke at 220F until the meat get to "done" for pasteurization at 130-140F for beef or 150F-160F for pork and chicken. In programming the unit, after the meat reaches temperature, best not to be too restrictive on the set points for the "oven temperature" -- just let the control's PID figure out the final oven set points. Best $ value of all the 2-probe PID that I've seen. Other 2 probe sell for $200 to $300. His price plus shipping is the best. It would be hard to DIY at that price.

His insulated charcoal oven and grease diverting grill look interesting. Would look into them more it I don't need to pay for overseas postage. Will wait until he gets a US distributor.

Please visit The degraded model is FOX.
FOX has a very strong aluminum and big chassis. It is truly heavy duty.
I will upgrade PIGEON with same chassis, and possible adding second outlet
Before I can get really big order, I can not change LED due to cost reason.
If you considering cost, it is cheaper to buy from me directly and pay higher shipping cost than to buy from an distributor in USA.
But as soon as I find an distributor, I must quit selling directly by myself to protect distributor(s)

The 2 probe model is more useful for me, cause I want to have the meat be held at set temperatures. The 2 set points for the meat temperature is adequate for most thing. I thought more was needed but 2 set points are plenty.

Not that interested in the degraded Fox (1 probe), but will be looking into the 12V DC Wolf with 2 probes when the model comes out with an LCD instead of LED. It seems like it would be useful to control larger pit cause the blower fan is quite powerful. How hard would it be to use the speed controller (pulse width) on the fan for speed control. It might give more control and no stalling due to low voltage to the dc motor.

1.Upgraded model will be ready in one week. Dual probes, 3 outputs. It is originally designed for wood pellet smoker, but can be used in charcoal/stick burning smoker, sous vide,

2.WOLF has a big enough fan for most smoker. Indeed it is too big, for most smokers you have to limit the maximum output, which can be programmed by users.
PID is very smart to control the speed of fan. Temperature fluctuation is around 2 F
Right now there is no plan to change LED. You may need a LION, then you can monitor and control the controller via your iPhone or computer inside your room
