After a moment of silence in remembrance of Buster Dog BBQ the results were announced. We lost Rod, from Buster Dog BBQ, to cancer this last year. Buster Dog won Grand Champion at this contest last year. It would be one of the final contests that Buster Dog BBQ competed in. Miss you Rod!

My First Contest!
 

After receiving a call at 3:00pm on Friday. I became the 25th team to compete in this contest. This was my first contest!

I've been cooking with Pork County BBQ for over 3 years and David Hintz has been encouraging me to "go on my own" and compete in a contest.

I was happy to be the 25th team and received several "thanks" from other teams. Glad I could help y'all out.

I had three goals:

1. Turn everything in on time (check)
2. Turn in edible food (check)
3. Not finish dead last (check)

It was a blast. I'm hooked! Now to save money to compete again!

I finished 20th overall and only had two "6". Thanks to all of the judges and congrats to all of the teams who received a call.

Congrats to Harlan on a Grand! As well as to Randy for a Reserve Grand.

You know Matt, you never did thank me for making sure that you were able to complete your third goal. I did that for you. Oh well, on to Ames next week and the past is forgotten.
