Guru Fan adapter to fit Stoker??

Has anyone found an adapter to make a guru fan run on a stoker unit?? Think Radio Shack may have something?

I don't think Radio Shack would have anything - but a hardware store likely would.

Take the measurements of what you're trying to fit together and head over to the plumbing section.

There are rubber adapters of just about every description. I can't imagine NOT finding at least something that would work.

I hope this helps.

Plumbing side is done. We need to plug the electrical plug of the guru fan into the stoker head unit.

Ah - gotcha.

The 'smarts' on the stoker are actually on small chips contained within the housing on the end of the quarter inch plug. The fan 'identifies' itself to the stoker unit as a fan using the info on the chip in the housing.

The fans on the stokers are two wires. How many are on the guru fan?

Should be two. Power and ground. Not sure if it will work or not. Been trying to call rocks barbque and never get an answer or a reply back. Anyone have a 25cfm stoker fan they would be willing to let me try out? Using a 10 on my cubed beast and not sure ifs big enough.

From what I see on Stoker, they are using a 1/4 male stereo microphone plug and the Guru uses a male power adapter (very common).

the fans use + Positive and - Negative. Reversing polarity to the motor would make it run backwards. But "QansasjayhawQ" says there is a chip in the housing. So I do not know what to tell you, you don't want to ruin the stoker from an improper connection.

Thanks guys just wanted to see if anyone has done it I have a spare 25cfm guru i was going to let him try

It may be easier just to have an adapter fab'd to use the stoker fan on a guru adapter

smokinit 10-10-2013 08:26 AM

I was thinking something like this

The Guru is 12V and the Stoker is 5V.

The Guru 25cfm fan used to be a Nidec Gamma 30 Fan, Model A34124 before that fan was discontinued. I don't know what they use now, but it is probably very similar.

The A34124 has an operating Voltage range of 10.2-13.8V, so it probably won't work with a Stoker.

This 5V fan looks like it will fit in the Guru fan housing without any modification. You're on your own regarding the wiring.

I wonder if I can get the Dolmar backpack blower plumbed in there....
