Maverick ET-732 vs. iGrill (where to buy in So Cal?)

I'm finally getting rid of the crap LCD thermometers that I've been getting away with for the past year and stepping up and just getting a Maverick. I live in Santa Clarita (northern part of Los Angeles), and just wondering if anyone knows locations where I can just walk in and buy one for relatively the same price as online (about $59).

Alternatively, anyone have any luck with the igrill? I'm debating between the Maverick and iGrill

There's a thread on here from earlier today about the I grill started by Gore. You can pick up an Igrill at BestBuy but not for $59. However it appears that AT&T has them for $59.

I have seen the cheaper (non wireless) Maverick at Fry's but I have not seen it anywhere else on a shelf. I got mine as a gift through Amazon. BBQ's Galore may have something but not sure.

Go to Amazon.

The igrill thread is here:

The price is still the same in the link.

No, I haven't made any decisions. From the reviews I've read they all still seem to have flaws -- maybe you'll get lucky and maybe not. I've been burned twice by Maverick already, so I'm not anxious to give them more money unless I'm assured theirs will perform as it should.

I have both. The iGrill is easier to view and use on an iPad than an iPhone. You can view a time/temp graph, if you want to analyze your cook. The biggest advantage of the Maverick is the fact that it is a stand alone unit. You don't have to have an iDevice. The iGrill can be used without an iDevice, but the Maverick is easier to read. The iGrill is Bluetooth and the Maverick is rf. The range is better on the iGrill. I've compared the temp readings and they are close. Amazon is a good source for either device.
Hopefully this hasn't confused your decision.

I only have the iGrill and I love it! Only drawback -- it ships with only one probe... you really need two.

Blutch 01-14-2013 10:22 PM

How hard is it to get a second probe? B

The second probe can be ordered online. Make sure you by the correct probe. The meat and ambient temp probes are different.

If you want to check out an iGrill, the AT&T store at 2794 El Camino Real has them in stock. I am going to look at one before I buy one. I already have an iPhone.

I just ordered mine from Amazon. 2 day's shipping, I can wait.
