Hailing from exotic Indiana...lol

My name is Steve and I'm a self proclaimed "pit master wanna-be"
The "bio": I'm 48, happily married and a father of 4...3 girls and a boy.
I've been burning meat on a smokey Joe Weber for more than 25 years. Only two smokey joes in that time! A quality tool. Several years ago, I picked up a New Braunsfel grill/smoker used for $40. I used it for several years and learned to cook with indirect heat...charcoal/wood on one end and meat on the other. I was able to turn out some pretty tasty stuff over the years...includeing turkeys, ribs, roasts, yard birds ect.. I finally sent the New Braunsfel to the county dump due to serious rust problems.
A little more than a year passed and I looked a lot on the internet at professional smokers....God I wanted one! At $2500-$3000 dollars, I couldn't convince my loving wife to indulge me.
So, having no welding experience, no engineering experience...I decided I would build one!?!?
I liked the "reverse flow" design...so I made a drawing on MS Paint, employed the help of my brother....and the epic journey began.
We finished my baby in February of this year...we spent every Saturday working on my baby from October 2009 'til February 2010. There have been very few weekends that have passed without a fire in her since then. I'm still learning how to be a "real" pit master, but having a blast along the way. I've looked at many forums over the past few months, but this one really caught my eye. I'm excited to learn from those of you that really know your stuff! Thanks for allowing me to enter your world....
Steve
P.S. I'll try to post a pic of what I started with...finished smoker will follow:becky:.http://http://www.facebook.com/album...&id=1624232998

Welcome Steve! I'm from the same fun State, although I don't get down around your way too often. I've been gone for a little while (couple of years), but I've found my way back. I love this place and all the tips, tricks, mods, and humor I've found here. I'm ready to fire my smoker back up after a small hiatus so I hope to be hanging out here more regularly.

This is the compressor I built my smoker from.... I'm trying to figure out how to post multiple pics on here but haven't got there yet:help:http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...&id=1624232998. Been trying for hours to get a single pic on here.... I'm using photobucket. If someone could help I'd appreciate it. Would love to show off my smoker.
