Chile Relleno Breakfast Pie with Bacon Crust
I’ve made this before and it was delicious. This time I decided to try doing a single bacon weave as the crust and add an additional bacon weave on the top. Here are most of the ingredients.
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/885/2...71314ef2_z.jpg Greased up my CI pie pan with some Crisco. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1751/...fdb6ba04_z.jpg Did my crust weave in it. (Not my best work. I should’ve done this on the glass pie dish, like last time, but since the crust won’t show this was no biggy) https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1732/...e00d0abf_z.jpg Now I placed the glass dish in the CI dish to try to control shrinkage and keep its shape. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/898/4...98126e36_z.jpg Now place it upside down on the kamado to let the bacon grease drain. I let it cook this way for 30 minutes. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1739/...400ca3b0_z.jpg While that was cooking I whipped up the egg, milk, sour cream and Bisquick https://farm1.staticflickr.com/897/4...0712e705_z.jpg Once the bacon crust was cooled I placed in a layer of thinly sliced potato. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1732/...5393212c_z.jpg Now some slivered onion https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1741/...06caa3c3_z.jpg and then the Hatch Chiles. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1722/...b015b37f_z.jpg Now I added half the egg mixture and 1 cup of cheese. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/881/4...5fea8831_z.jpg I repeated this process and placed it on the kamado for 50 minutes at 300 degrees. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1721/...5095f06d_z.jpg Here it is after 50 minutes. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/893/2...e9c2f8ab_z.jpg Now I added a bacon weave on top of mostly already cooked bacon and cooked it an extra 10 minutes. (Didn’t want to deal with the shrinkage or the extra grease) https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1759/...294c9907_z.jpg Here it is after the additional 10 minutes. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1745/...dce5e8e6_b.jpg Close-up with flash. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1741/...6da06665_b.jpg Without flash. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1735/...d16c79d7_b.jpg Which one do you like better. (With flash or without flash) Absolutely delicious. Thanks for looking. |
Killer! I like the no flash shot best.
Wow. That's a thing of beauty.
I, too, am rather partial to the flashless photo. |
Just WOW!
I wanna see a slice! No..I mean in person...on a plate...with a fork!
Wow looks awesome, I like no flash, with the natural light it doesn't look dark to me, very nice color. Nothing wrong with the flash shot either.
Man o Man Jeff. Wow!!
Damn!
