Could you cook on this?

If it is cast iron, and you season it up good first, I don't see why not.

Ok forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a plumbing part? I'm sure the charcoal grate from a webber and a cheap chimney would only be slightly more money and safer to eat from

I say burn it off in a coal bed. Season and enjoy. Looks like it could be a replacement bottom for a BGE firebox.

Its a freakin' 5" drain grate! The only thing its good for is a charcoal grate for a vintage mini Kamado!

If it's 100% untreated cast iron then you're fine. No different from a cast iron griddle. I noticed it only weighs 1.5 lbs. I don't thing you'll get much searing on that too thin and light weight.

Here is a snarky answer....I can cook on anything!
But... a 5" drain grate is pushing how MUCH you CAN cook on it...LOL!

I would rather cook on something made for cooking. It is probably a Chinese import and who knows what its made of.

My question is cook what? That thing is not large enough to cook more than a couple of shrimp or perhaps half a hamburger.
