Was cooking several racks of ribs the other day and the temp probe pulled out of the alligator clip and fell into the water pan. I crimped the end of the alligator clip and pushed the probe back in but after that it would not work right, showed a temp on the guru 30 degrees lower than the pit thermometer which has been checked for accuracy.
Will it work right after it dries out or is it toast?
Thanks.

Check the guru manual. You have to hold the pit and probe buttons at the same time you power on. You need to adjust the low and span with cold and boilin water. More than likely the probe is toast. Just buy a new one. That alligator clip is supposed to come off so you can slip the probe through really small holes in the side of the pit.
