Talking about a strange method to the madness....

Was looking on the Food channel - at the "5 ingredient fix" ... a segment on Spanish tapas.
Well after curiosity struck me... looked it up - appetizers. OK... another inspiration struck me.

This was the basic recipe consisting of the following;
1. garbanzo beans
2. olive oil
3. paprika
4. cumin
5. salt.

Drain, rinse, and dry the beans thoroughly
Mix all the ingredients and transfer to a parchment lined sheet.
Bake at 400* for 35-45 minutes..

I read "bbq rub"... don't you?

How about a bbq flavored 3 INGREDIENT FIX... in less than an hour?
Garbonzo beans, olive oil, and your preferred rub of the day?

(Excellent source of fiber, protein with reduced fat)

Pics in a little while...

Sounds interesting! Can't wait to see how it turns out and maybe try it myself.

Oh boy! I absolutely love garbanzo beans, cant wait to see how it turns out. :pop2:

Thanks! I love chickpeas. I'll be trying this.

OMG!!! Oh yea!!!!! Will indeed do this again with a stronger flavor - like HDD, too.

Used Plowboy's Yardbird for the first go around. What a surprise.
The texture is wonderful - very similar to a peanut yet with more flavor.
Toss them in the mouth - just like a popcorn snack.

Now for the pics....

[Used one tray per each 15 oz. can - just to leave plenty of room for a few shakes and toss during the baking session.]

Here's the original source of the recipe...

Yep! I'm gonna try it!!!

I love me some chick peas!

I saw on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives a Middle Eastern Restaurant that did hummus with whole chick peas instead of puree'd beans. That made me think about doing them the same way you did.

Now that you have done it, I am definitely going to give these a go. I really do love me some chick peas.

No reason you can't roast them in your smoker either. I can get my Akorn to keep steady at 400. Also do some that have been salted and dusted with wasabi powder...

One of my friends turned me onto this and damn they are great. After getting a can of beans and cooking them in the over and shoveling them all in my face I ran back to the store for about 5 more cans :becky:. 1 was not enough.

So versatile as you can make any flavor you want.

Well dang... looks like I know what I'll be making for dinner tomorrow. .. looks good.

Those look awesome!!! I bet they would work in the smoker... Dammit, gotta go to the store an get some chi-chis now... thanks!!
