got a question for all grill masters, grill makers or anyone

I found a Masterbuilt Extra Wide Propane Smoker. I want to convert it to a CHARCOAL and wood smoker. My questions are, do you think the grill can take the heat? what problems will I in run into? please help, all comments welcome!!!!

Prolly the bottom will rust out if you do not have a charcoal ash pan. I would make it out of a minimum 3/16 plate...... You will most likely need more intake and exhaust..... my other concern is it warping... mighty thin meat but you can prolly overcome it. may want to put gaskets around doors....www.bbqgaskets.com

They can make dandy charcoal grills but making smokers out of them are more trouble then it would be worth imo. Find a 55, or 30 gallon drum and you can make a very good smoker

Gas units usually have a lot of open area that needs to be sealed up to be a good charcoal unit. Ask SmittyJonz. He has done a lot of work converting a gas unit and worked hard on sealing it up and I think he still can get temp jumps up over 400F if he's not keeping a good eye on it.
