Wanted to say thanks to the judges, staff and support crews, you guys and gals were over the top, helpful and courteous. Skip you and your wife put on a first class event, thanks. Big shout out to Harry at Slap Your Daddy, congrats on your GC. Amy and I appreciated the box lesson, you area true gentleman. Loot N Booty, Big Poppa Smokers, Butcher's Daughters, Qued Up, and Little Miss BBQ RGC, thanks for helping out the rookies. We were exhausted by Saturday afternoon, I had no idea competition BBQ was an endurance sport. We came away with a new appreciation for all the effort and work that goes into competition BBQ, and a new found love. We had a GREAT TIME!

Really nice event this year but as bbq.tom mentioned, the wind was a real downer and man it got cold!!

I was a judge for this event and kept thinking about the contestants and the wind and how cool it got and how that must have caused them some real troubles.

There was some great Q and some pretty poor Q on my plate and I do hope that after the judges criticism ends, which seems to always happen, that all that criticize would judge a few contests and see how good, how close some are and how poor others can be.

Just saying. But great work ya all!

Thanks to all the teams who shared their chile with me on Friday night, with a special thanks to Meat Inc. for their hospitality.

I was back in the judges tent after two years of a BBQ adventure where I learned quite alot of what winning BBQ looks and taste like. As a result, I was too critical of the chicken entries and was chastised. So, I eased up and and was more forgiving for the rest of the meats. I don't know if I can compromise my standards to meet KCBS's new judging system where I would have to undergo retraining for deviating from the other judges scores by too much. I'll give it a couple more tries between competing and see where it goes.

Congrats to all who walked! The wind certainly provided some entertainment on Friday Night / Saturday morning. I was giving glider lessons using my EZ Ups @ 2am. Hopefully there are no pictures :tsk:. Nice hanging with the Brethren - especially Benny and his boss (wife)! I'll have to get a banner so the 4 people out of thousands who didn't hear me on my megaphone can find me! :rolleyes:

Aaron - we got a knock on the RV door around 2:00am to find that my 10X20 had decided to take some flying lessons - it wasn't a relaxing evening after that debacle.
