Mike Mills 17th St

Just curious if anyone here has had the opportunity to partake in Mike Mills BBQ class? I will actually be taking one of his classes from what my wife told me.

The wife and my daughter know how I am about BBQ and they see fit to send me to one of his classes because of how much I would enjoy it. I won't complain a bit. And when he does the classes, they are right down the road from my house so travel time is no big deal.

The thought of this is simply amazing but it sure does cost. I am curious if it is worth it or not for a backyard BBQ guy that MIGHT one day down the road compete or open for business.

Take care everyone!

I don't know how much it costs, but I have a thought.

Before I started competing (1 contest so far, but lots and lots of comp simulating practice), I didn't have any interest in a class as I was completely satisfied with my q.

All the practice of trying to really zero in on perfection has paid off in that my back yard bbq is way better than before. I never realized that even though competition cooking is so much different than back yard cooking, getting better is getting better. Now I want to get better every time I cook and I'm looking for classes.

Bottom line, if you have a chance to get better, take it.

He owns 17th st bbq in Marion IL and Murphysborogh IL. He has won probably more than Myron has. When push comes to shove, he is one hell of a guy to. I have met him a few times in his businesses and he was a really decent man every time. He saw my wife make a funny face at something she ordered and he actually stood there and convinced her to let him make it right with her.

And man it is REALLY expensive class. I could actually take the cash and buy a better smoker lol. But a gift is a gift and I won;t complain or nag any. I am just grateful that my wife and daughter think that much of me to pay for something like that when times are this hard.
