Last Minute Superbowl snacks...

Got a last minute invite, to my neighbor's house, to watch the game, so I had to do some quick last minute snacks. I started out with 5#'s of wings, season in my own creation, and I must say it was pretty darn good. The wing seasoning consisted of the following:
4 packets of Sazon Goya
1 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup of garlic powder
2 tablespoons of salt
1.5 tablespoons of cumin
1 teaspoon of oregano
1 teaspoon of cinnamon

Also made up some MOINK balls wrapped in low sodium bacon and seasoned with John Henry's Sugar Maple Rub Seasoning.

Fired up both UDS, one with reg. KF and 4 chunks of cherry wood
(soaked for 2 hours) for the MOINK balls and 3 brats (the cook's snack). The other for the wings, with competition KF, 4 chunks of cherry and 1 chunk of mesquite (also saoked for 2 hours).

The MOINK balls took about 1.5 hours at 225-230 and the wings wre done in about 50 minutes, at 230 to 240. No finishing sauce on the wings, blue cheese dressing, on the side, the seasoning was very good. Wings had a real nice smoky flavor and moist inside.
By the time everything was done and ready to go, we had to step it up a notch to catch the intros. and the kickoff. Sorry, no finish product pron.

My bet is that you won't be a "last minute" invite next year. They will want to make sure that you can make it.

Funny thing you mentioned that, Brian...they are considering what other BBQ chicken dishes, we can do, at the next gathering and if I would be willing to show them, how to better use their gasser and possibly get an ECB, to start smoking. Spreading the joy of Que, one family at a time.

Everything looks great. Wish I would have been able to participate in devouring it.

4 packets of Sazon Goya on the wings? Isn't that primarily MSG? Sounds like a whole lot of that stuff.

Good point, I just used what was on hand. I guess you can substitute seasoned salt instead.

I've been wanting to try that JH Sugar Maple. Do you use that on a lot of things?

I have used it on fatties, pork and on MOINK balls. I do use alot of John Henry's products. So far I have tried:
JH Pecan Rub
JH Summer Peach Rub
JH Maple Sugar Rub
JH Texas Chicken Tickler
JH Cherry Rub

I also have tried two of his marinades : Pecan Marinade and Jasmine Garlic Marinade.
They all have been pretty good, IMO.
