Turkey Experiment Question

First, sorry for being AWOL from the Brethren for quite a while...been busy.

Now..turkey experiment question: Has anyone ever done a combo cook of this nature and if so, how did it turn out? My plan is to smoke the 12# turkey for 4 hours and then deep fry for 10 minutes. I love the smokiness flavor and love the crisp skin of deep fry.

What are your thoughts and/or results? I do this method for wings all the time and it is awesome, so I am hoping it will result in magical turkey.

Thanks in advance.

Gerald

I've seen it before on here somewhere. Search smo-fried turkey.

Can't see a reason it won't work. We occasionally smoke chicken or pork, shred it, put it in corn tortillas, and then fry it up for tacos. Great smokey flavor, nice fried crispiness. No reason not to do it.

I've seen them smoke chicken and then deep fry it on Diners Driveins and Dives. Looks damn good. I say go for it and post your results.

I plan on doing this as well. My neighbor is frying his, so once he is done I am going to drop my smoked bird in. I believe it is going to be awesome

Well I was gonna do a deep fried and a smoked turkey.......since I like smoked and my family not so much. Wonder if I did the smoked bird a douse in the oil if it'd make it where they might change their mind.

I will do a test run tommorrow. I will post results and try to get pictures. I am not promising to get the pics posted but will try.

Were you able to test it out? Curious how it went...
