Promotion is in full swing for this contest, some nice local press as well.

It will be great to do a show without the long drive! $20,000 prize purse, and thirty-some teams last I heard -- who's coming out to play?

I'm not going to be competing but I'm trying to get that weekend off of work to go check it out. A drive across town to see a comp seems a lot better than a trip across the country.

Are you guys going heavy for PC? We're scheduled to be doing a radio bit after turn-ins, but if we can get some friends to come along and do the food service we're considering it. Teams mostly sold out their stuff last year, didn't they?

You bet it does! And if you like what you see, there are a couple more upcoming that would be easy to get to, if you can get the time off:

April 8-9 Sam's Club Gilbert
May 13-14 YCCA BBQ Cookoff Prescott
July 1-2 Northern Arizona BBQ Festival Williams
July 8-9 Holbrook Ace in the Hole

There's more in the second half, but you get the gist. Hope to see you!

Yeah that Northern Arizona one in July looks like a winner. I'm usually starting to get sick of summer around that time.

We are going in real heavy since we have some family coming in for the event and they are willing to handle everything for peoples choice. Some teams I spoke with sold well over $800 in peoples choice.

We sold out just before awards and served right around 1000 samples. We also had additional friends/family helping out. It was bat sh!t, crazy busy.

Yeah I can attest to that I was there

Saturday. It's the day of the actual competition. Friday is the day the teams show up, prep, and start cooking.

If there are any judges out there looking to judge this event I believe they are still looking for some judges. If you need information, let me know.

Last year they had 100% CBJ's, 50+ teams and a smaller prize fund?

Wondering if it's the economy, the entry fee or other factors that are keeping judges and teams away this year. Prize fund is nice, and this event totally rocked last year.

For the sake of the teams, I hope they get 100% CBJ's.

The rain rolling through today will bring cooler temps after it clears off -- it's supposed to be highs of 74 and 0% chance of precipitation on Friday and Saturday. That will be pretty weather for the public to come stroll around, and nicer for the competitors than last week's temps in the 90s.

I thought the event was very well run last year Crash. It was a little hot, as it was in April last year. We absolutely would have doe it again, except it did not fit our personal schedule very well this year.

R&R BBQ Team is in again this year. Looks like a tough list of teams in the contest for us lower rated teams. We will go and give it our best.

Whatever dude.....:p Best of luck to you and all of the other teams.

We really enjoyed this event last year. Boots and Daisy Dukes do not suck! Reminded me of Stagecoach, but in Scottsdale.:clap2:

It did get hot last year, but the event was well run for sure. I'm sure that the other competitors appreciate Totally Que-Less sitting this one out. :-D

Oh yeah, Bear Down and Go Cats!
