Tool to shred meat - Recommendations
Hey all....I've been suffering through pulling meat with a pair of forks. Not much fun.
I've heard of but my wife tells me that it doesn't look like the finger opening is large enough. She's found , but those are just some she's found on a Google search. I was wondering what y'all were using, and if you had any words of wisdom. Thanks! Bob |
Here is another option...

I use my left and right hand in conjunction with a pair of THESE

or for competitions where I want better control I use a pair of cotton gloves with latex gloves over them. |
Bear Paws
I got some Bear Paws for Christmas and the opening is plenty big for my hands. You'd have to have pretty big man hands not to fit through the opening.
Though I must say, I like the look of the implements your wife found on the internet. |
I use a couple of big serving forks.

I use one of these.

Some people have latex allergies, so I use my hands/fingers and nitrile gloves:
|
I use bear claws and gloved fingers (either the thin food service gloves or the Steven Raichlen brand insulated gloves, depending upon how hot the meat is).

Your hands are the best tool

I have big man hands and they fit in Bear Paws.
Normally I use nitrile gloves over cotton liners. I always have nitrile gloves handy and liners are cheap. Toss them after a few uses or when they get nasty |
I actually got both for Christmas, wanting something to use when the meat is still really hot and for me they are only good for the initial pulling apart into larger chunks. Then let the meat cool further for a minute and then use my hands on the smaller chunks. I normally have the thick rubber gloves on and will probably go back to using those for when the meat is to hot to pull with hands.

I just received some meatrakes but haven't used them.

You could try the drill attachment. I was using bear claws the other night, and got pretty tired of them...
