Congrats to all that walked. This one was on our wish list but work got in the way. Hopefully next year..........looks like an awesome festival.

Just got home from this comp. Had an awsome time! What a great venue and great people. Dmitry the organizer is like a breath of fresh air. Always smiling and making sure everything was a ok. I will be back.

Oh and congrats to all that walked!!

Congrats to all that walked. Q Haven had a big July/August last year, and it looks like Ted and Sheila are at it again.

Congrats to Good Smoke on a crushing sweep in the grilling side of things and congrats to Q Haven on the GC in KCBS. Oh how I wish our ribs had scored better! Great run comp, Dmitry is an absolute trip! When the time comes to organize and start the Buckner Brothers Iron Man BBQ competition, we're going to give Dmitry a one hour stand-up comedy slot.

What's this you speak of??

Just ideas that Elliott and I were spinning around our collective brain on the way home from Placid. Nothing set up aside from just talking about "Wouldn't it be cool if...." nothing past that...

My guess would be YES!!!

I'm in

It's still a pipe dream, but these rules could/would be epic and test the comfort levels and BBQ skills of any pit master who dare enter. Dreaming and spitballing the crazy ideas we were coming up with on the drive home made the 5.5 hours pass by quickly. A few thoughts:

limited to 25 teams. $1000 buy in. $1000 to each winner of the 4 individual categories, $1000 for RGC, $20,000 for GC. Meat provided- 6 pieces of chicken, 1 rack, 1 butt, 1 brisket. There was also talk of putting a # on each competitors cooker and pulling a # out of a hat....and that is what you cook on for the comp. Not entirely sold on this, since if someone is cooking on your equipment and doesn't know how to use it, they could seriously mess up what you own.

In keeping with true Buckner Brothers style, the 4 grilling categories would be Hots, Tots, Chicken Wings, and Bourbon. Anyone whose hung with BBBBQ around midnight knows the significance of these categories. There would be quite hour(s) from 4am til 5am, and mandatory loud hours otherwise. After Boston Hills, we would mandate the Cartechine rule that each of the four auxiliary categories MUST be deep fried. Music lineup would be epic. Not sure how to fund that since the entry fees go towards payout. I doubt insurance would allow us to be open to the public, so we might have the comp streamed live on the internet and charge people to watch the mayhem that goes down.

Since this comp would most likely take place in western NY, many of our Canadian friends and foes might be joining us. There has been talk of a Can-Am cup. We would average all the US scores and all the Canadian scores to determine which side of the border had the best overall score and come up with some sort of trophy similar to the NEBS TOY trophy or a Stanley Cup. The highest overall score from the winning side would keep the trophy until the following year. We would also set up competitors into an American side and a Canadian side and either spray paint a line of demarkation or dig a small river/stream through the site to keep teams separated. Not sure where this comp would take place, so a river might be out of the question. We would have BBQ border patrol there and BBQ passports must be held on person at all times if you wish to cross the border. Permission to cross the border would be put up to an informal vote of those around at the time and all informal votes may be challenged by a vote of the Buckner Brothers Army in which a 2/3 majority is required to overturn the results of informal voting by competitors.

As I said, it's completely a pipe dream at this point, but one can dream, can't he? Coming up with these crazy rules made for an enjoyable drive home for sure!

Sounds epic. I'd be there.
Not sure if my liver would thank me though.

Ah what the hell over on the Canuckistan side we get new ones for free!

Deep fried bourbon........

I think cooks meeting should include a mandatory King Neptune platter
