Custom cooker for a fellow brethern By TQ and Tyler
Well a fellow brethren contacted me and after many discussions I came up with a cooker that I thinks will meet his needs, and it will hold a ton of meat. I am going to take you through the build process hopefully it will help someone else out. Just to clarify I do not think we are all that in a bag of chips but I have built many cookers and some people like to see the build process, so here it is. The cook chamber is 88" long by 30"OD
laying out the cooker on this type of cooker the best thing for me to do is lay it out and identify what is going where. This is an end view http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...saQ/008-16.jpg this is the end view cut out and fit up. It is best to fit the end on weld what you need to then make the cut for the door http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...osaQ/015-4.jpg added a brace it help hold things together and it will stay 88"s is along way on full doors http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...osaQ/017-5.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...osaQ/016-4.jpg The sub frame for the doors is made of 2"by 1/4 angle iron http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...osaQ/025-3.jpg The top is cased in with 1/4" plate steel http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...saQ/004-20.jpg My fellow brethren said he wanted it to hold a big hog and I sent this pic of TQ and Tyler and said what about a hog and a piglet!!!! LOL!!!! http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...saQ/001-19.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...saQ/005-16.jpg cook chamber opening cut out. The fire box is Approxiametely 017% of what is needed. I like to go a little bigger. It is 30 wide 28 tall and 26 deep http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...osaQ/014-7.jpg firebox and warmer cutout for cook chamber http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...osaQ/013-5.jpg This was the original trailer 5ft wide by 10ft long it was going to be a little big for the carport so..... I stepped it down to 4ft wide 9'6" long with a removable tongue http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...osaQ/012-7.jpg Anybody need a trailer HA HA !!! I will use it somewhwere New trailer I welded a receiver just like on a truck it works great gone It before. The axel is 3500# http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...saQ/011-10.jpg slide out fire basket http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...saQ/003-18.jpg Damper from cook chamber to warmer http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...osaQ/012-8.jpg I also add a fire basket and ash tray to the warmer for dedicated cooks in the warmer. It can be easily removed it only makes sinse to me then if you do not want to fire the cooker up then use the warmer http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...saQ/011-11.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...osaQ/014-8.jpg all the handles are chrome cool touch slide over a 1/2 inch stainless rod. Then I took my heli- arc rig and fused the handles to the rod and I like it a lot http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...osaQ/015-6.jpg here you can see the handle for the damper to warmer http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...saQ/005-18.jpg Random pics the tires and wheels come off and chrome ones go on it will change the whole look http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...saQ/009-16.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...saQ/004-23.jpg Me and my puppy dogs http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...saQ/003-20.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...osaQ/017-6.jpg Tylers boat he built last year it still amazes me he installed the motor, built the boat did the wiring and hydraulics he is talented. I do not now if I have ever mentioned this and want to everybody always gives me a lot of credit for Tyler and his skills. Well let me say this he has a wonderful step dad his name Allen, he is a master at electronics and electricity and he has taught Tyler everything in that are area cause I know diddly squat about that stuff. He is a good man and deserves credit!!!!! http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...osaQ/024-1.jpg I not a good narrator, speller and have no computer skills so it was a chore to post this but here it is |
