I applied a glaze i made to my ribs that doesn't change the flavor much at all but makes them look more shiny. Trying new things for competition this summer. What do you all think?

HeSmellsLikeSmoke 04-10-2013 11:14 AM

Why do you want to make them shiny with no added flavor?

Teamfour 04-10-2013 11:14 AM

That looks great!

I should have explained more. I understand that a lot of judges like shiny. But with a glaze that pronounced, it could hurt your taste score if the first bite doesn't deliver what your eyes were promised.

I do agree. I do like the flavor profile of my rub and sauce so I'm not sure where to go with the glaze to add to that.

Great looking ribs, I'm curious how you create a shine w/out adding flavor, gelatin? I usually skip any sweet rubs on my ribs cause I figure my glaze will take care of that.

They look really good! :hungry:
