A friend of mine gave me some orange wood from a relatives place. I know fruit/citrus woods are generally good w/ fowl/fish/pork. Has anyone done a turkey w/ orange? I got some orange wood chips from academy when they added to their line to work with before I got this batch so my experience/usage of orange wood is low. The one time I did use it to tool around w/ on some chicken halves on my OTG it was strong & bitter ove smoked. I plan on using my BDS on a whole turkey breast but trying to decide if I want to try w/ the orange wood chunks probably only 1 or 2 small pieces in the drum. Thoughts???

I think you either used too much wood in the smoker or you should check airflow in your smoker.

I use citrus, including orange, on poultry whenever I can. My brother brings a load up every spring lemon, orange, tangerine, grapefruit, and lime. I have never had bitter tasting chicken using any citrus. A pleasant medium smoke flavor with a hint of sweet smoke.
