A Pulled Pork Pie
I hadn't made one of these for awhile. Usually make them with a sliced tatoe crust http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=128156
this time I used shredded hash brown tatoes. seasoned the pork butt with Tatonka Dust, SM Peppered Cow and Big Poppa's Money rub... http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps2db2eb25.jpg into the drum til done... http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...psb48dc7dc.jpg http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...psd04f25cc.jpg had sandwiches the first night then used some of the pulled pork for the pie. pressed shredded tatoes into the skillet first. Seasoned them with smoked salt and pepper... http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps70b7bfad.jpg then the pulled pork, topped with more dry rub, minced jalapenos and onions http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps6355d37f.jpg drizzled with Thomas Q sauce.. ( Thanks P, I love the stuff) http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps18a861ac.jpg http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps67ba59fd.jpg added a bit of provolone.... http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps60f7b1e8.jpg then a bacon lattice and sprinkled with more rub... http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps8706b5d3.jpg http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps9ad87f31.jpg used the Memphis Pro for this cook. Cranked it up to 350F and let er go.. http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...psb9b5fc6d.jpg waited til the bacon was nice and crisp... http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps1a75b951.jpg http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...psacce908a.jpg I drizzled the slice with more Thomas Q sauce. It's a vinegar based sauce and has a nice little kick to it. http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps1d34b4ef.jpg http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps962bc35f.jpg I liked the shredded tatoe crust and will use it again. Overall it was a tasty pie. I was a happy girl. :) Thanks for looking! |
I'm so doing that with lamb, be like an upside down shepherd's pie.
That's a nice looking dish. More on the shredded taters, Commercial hash browns? |

I just shredded some tatoes and let them sit in cold salted water with a bit of lemon juice so they wouldn't brown. Drained them and seasoned them with the smoked salt and pepper in the skillet. Commercial hash browns would work too. I didn't have any on hand. Looking forward to seeing your lamb pie. Thanks again! |
AHH Soo, grated Potato:thumb:
