Twins, with pron
I finally finished off the twin UDS that I had scavenged the parts for.
I tried something a little different with the basket. I used a deep dish pizza pan and the charcoal grate from a 18" kettle. I used stainless hardware and stainless threaded rod instead of bolts to save some $$. http://www.majhost.com/gallery/MK-Ul...s/img_6540.jpg http://www.majhost.com/gallery/MK-Ul...s/img_6543.jpg Here is the final product. I used a deep fryer thermometer inserted through a hole in the handle. The handle supports the thermo along its length. http://www.majhost.com/gallery/MK-Ul...s/img_6546.jpg The thermometer reaches pretty close to the middle of the drum. I drilled a 5/32 hole and it fits perfectly. The thermometer can be pulled very easily but still forms a tight seal. Here are both ready to go. http://www.majhost.com/gallery/MK-Ul...s/img_6549.jpg They need a quick clean up and a seasoning but soon I will have three UDS chugging away. |
Nice looking drums there, how do you control the vent holes?

Nice pair!

Nice! Where did you get the lids?
|
The lids (grate and handles) are from a Charbroil kettle knockoff. I bought both used off CL so I'm not sure where they come from. Wally World I think.
