Washing Machine Ribs and 100 lbs of Sausage
6 Attachment(s)
Well I went home to visit my parents over the weekend and make sausage. We made about 100 lbs of sausage...sorry not too many pictures of this...
Well when I was home, I convinced my dad to let me cook some ribs for them. I was only planning to cook some spares but he took 2 racks of spares and 2 racks of baby backs out of the freezer. Thanks to the brethren on Friday night, I had some general idea how to cook the baby backs... Saturday morning I seasoned up the ribs with some Yardbird and fired up the washing machine (converted into a smoker). I quickly learned that trying to smoke ribs on this thing was going to be a PITA. It seemed that the temperature could swing 30 degrees in 20 minutes on that thing...oh well they turned out great! Here are some really poor cell phone pictures. |

Haha.... now THAT is some texas ingenuity!

The ribs look good and that smoker is something else.

That is farken great!!
|
wow, that is ugly. UWMS! I highly recommend switching to a UDS - but that's my opinion. But if it makes bbq, go for it.

First time seeing a washer as a smoker, cool set up.
|
I think that's pretty awesome there!

Thanks, I'm not sure how my dad got the idea to turn a washing machine into a pit, but it works. It will also wear you out, if you try to keep a somewhat constant temp for any period of time. We were making sausage while I was trying to cook ribs and the temp varied from 190 all the way up to 290...but they still turned out great

You're dad needs to hook up with Norco.

Talk about recycling man that is an awsome Idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

You could put Myron's trash can smoker out of business if you started manufacturing the washing machine smoker...that thing is awesome.
