Wok Score and Seasoning Thirdeye style! Pr0n

My wife came home yesterday from a little shopping and said " I got a little surprise for you" I have been looking for a 16" wok lately and not really having much luck. And lo and behold she pulls this shinny new wok out of a bag, When I finally picked my jaw up from the ground, I was amazed to see this All-Clad 16" beauty. She found it in the clearance bin at the local Home Goods Store. The price.....$65.00 marked down from the original sticker price of $ 265.00. SCORE.

So, I got up this morning like a little kid at Christmas ready to play with my new toy. Oh Fark, I didn't have a spider ring to hang it in my Kamado.

So I made my own out of a Tomato ring....Another score...Free!

Went to my chrome bookmarks and found the tutorial posted by Thirdeye on how to season my new found beauty and started gettin busy!

Followed the mans instructions to the letter and the result was a true splendor!

All done and cooled down.

Thanks for lookin,

Looking good! The only thing I will caution you about is using the tomato cage for a spider. They are typically made of galvanized metal, which may release zinc when hot, particularly that close to the fire.

Thanks for the input, I just used it to season the wok.

Even using for seasoning only you still probably inhaled the noxious fumes. Hopefully you were on the upwind side.

Now way did he inhale enough to be bad, you need ALOT of fumes to get serious galv poisoning. At most he could have possibly got the ****s, but i doubt it.

Anyways, i have been interested in a wok, anyone use a kettle as the base?

.......

Very true, but I have a feeling it's incremental, so why do it at all when there are other ways?

Sorry, the tag was burned off during seasoning. This was a close-out sale in a bargain bin.
