Lazzari Lump-Score!!!

I think my quest for lump is over!!!

I ordered a bag of Lazarri Mesquite lump from Gordons Food Service yesterday and picked it up today.

40 lb bag for $19.99

Its awesome! It does pop a lot in the chimney, but went away after that.

Check out these pics. I dumped some in a bucket so I could see what was hiding under the surface and was quite happy.

So as long as there isnt a turtle or a nest of scorpions in the bottom of the bag, I am sold on this stuff

Oh, you didn't get the bag with the scorpions in it, well, maybe nest time. Did you get one of the ones with a $20 in it?

No

It was $19.99

I would have walked away if it was $20

LMAO

All you need now is a brick layers hammer to break up the really big pieces you get every now and then.

Tandoori style lump charcoal.

landarc 04-23-2013 07:15 PM

I put the big chunks in a plastic or paper bag and slam them on the ground with a solid thwack, breaks up perfectly

They actually market Tandoor grade charcoal, which I think is essentially large chunks of charcoal. I looked into getting some shipped to me a few years back (never seen it in stores), but the price was daunting. Plus, handling during shipping would probably break a lot of the big chunks.

Wesman61 04-23-2013 08:41 PM

I use that too. About $14.00 around here. I mix it with mesquite chunks from Wally World. Makes a mean brisket. Just the right amount of flavor that way.

At OSH out here in California the mesquite lump is $9.99 for I think 22 pounds, but I prefer the oak so I get it from BBQPD instead.

Get yourself a steel bucket and a 4lb. hammer to break up the big pieces. Like a mortar & pestle for charcoal.

Where is it available in Reno? Now that AceHardware.com doesn't have WW, I'm in lump purgatory and need a replacement source for good lump. TIA.
