I lived in CA for 7 years and grew accustomed to grabbing a tritip every time I visited the local store. I cannot find the meat anywhere in FL and none of the local butchers are willing to cut it for me. I just bought 6 lbs for 7.99/lb online but the cheapest shipping option was $47 + $12 handling. Now I'm up to $17.82/lb. Probably just a one time investment! Any solutions other than moving back out west (not that bad of an idea)?

Try Contacting Tom Pellizzetti @ 479-790-8133 Florida Grass fed beef. They are in Chipley but I get their beef here in Fort Lauderdale.

Thanks, I will definitely give him a call. Are his prices a lot lower than those mentioned above?

Do you have a Whole Foods store anywhere near you? I've seen tri-tip here in Jacksonville at the Manderin location before and I believe it was $7.99/lb.

Searching for Whole Foods in mandarin now thanks for the tip only 50 minutes away!

Call and ask them the price cause I'd hate to steer you wrong, it was awhile back when I was there and I could be wrong on the price I mentioned.

Sorry to say but yesterday I bought a 3 pack of tri-tip for $2.99/lb. Good luck!

At 17.82/lb you might branch out in your meat selection to save some cash. You could try smoked king crab legs, baby seal ribs, filet minion fatties...The options are endless!

If your location is correct and you are living in Florida, you should be able to get it through Publix. That is where I get it all the time here in Georgia. It is rare when it is in the display case. I have to ask at the meat counter and if they don't have it in the back, they get it for me within two days. Give your local Publix a try. Unfortunately, the price seems to go up every time I go there lately. Seems word is spreading.

I know the meat dept mgr at the local publix very well having coached his son but he said the demand for it here is too low for them to carry it. I have some good leads thanks to everyone's help and feel confident I will hook up with some good ole tri-tip at a reasonable price real soon.

I'll bet he would get them for you if you were willing to buy a case at a time.

They are not as cheap as many of these prices I have just seen posted, but I bought a 10lb brisket the other day. It was $ 9.00 per pound

That is not bad at all for grass fed. I find the quality of whole foods and costco to be the best around. Wish there was a real butcher around here. :)
