Found a Choice Packer
$2.99 a pound. Did not think that was a bad price. After all the talk about beef prices on the media, I expected to see $4.99 a pound.

Im going to have to go check our local albertsons! Walmart had a select for 2.99 a pound around 14lbs, it looked really bad, large brown spots on it and stiff.

A month or two back I caught a bunch of Choice packers at Wal-Mart for 1.97 a pound.
I bought a lot of them up, ground them, smoked them, yada yada yada. I went back some time last week, and all the prices are at 2.45 a pound (what I usually pay at Costco for choice grade) and they're all select. Ahhh, Wal-Mart. |
I picked up 2 choice packers tonight for $2.48/lb at HEB. I would have bought more but my freezer is already full. Went to get loin backs that were on sale but totally forgot to get them.

I checked the prime packers at Costco this weekend in KC, they were $3.69/lb.

Packers at Sam's were Excel USDA Choice and were $2.89 or $3.19 IIRC.
