The Brethren can do better than this photo!

Here are the immutable rules for the BBQ Brethren Throwdown! These same rules will apply every week regardless of category. You must adapt the chosen category to these rules in order to enter.

1) The item must be either Grilled or Smoked.
2) Entries must be cooked during the current throwdown week ( 3/23 - 3/29 ).
3) All pics (any number) must be submitted by 9pm Central on 3/30.
4) Only one picture from one dish will be used for voting, so please specify which one you want used, otherwise I will choose and my decision will be final.
5) If you have any problems with any of the entries, believing them not to be qualified for any reason, please use the ***VOTE*** thread and exercise your power of voting against those entries. Any complaints posted in any Throwdown thread, or directed to me via any other means will be ignored.

The voting will begin by Tuesday 3/31 after I submit the "Vote" thread and voting will close on Sunday 4/5. All votes will be public.

Next weeks category will be "Dry Rubbed _______" as decided by last weeks winner, Goose!

Best of luck and even better eats to all!

Looks like this one is going over like a fart in church:twisted:
Anyone going to cook this weekend?

bigabyte 03-27-2009 09:15 AM

I went to a few stores to see if I would be lucky enough to find any duck. No luck. I'm sure we got a few here with a freezer full of duck though, so hopefully they can whip something up!

Around here, duck season is closed from February through the end of September...although nobody would miss a couple of mud hens.

I'm thinking about dressing up as an Eagle and see if I can't fool the local park ranger. We have some nice fat ducks here. They come right up to you expecting food. Easy-peasy. Just a quick toss in the trunk...

Hey yalls!
Are you kidding me? I get on the forum after a long week of trying to get moved into my new place, and there is NO duck entries yet?? Okay, well I know this aint the yuppie forum, but ducks are everywhere, and as a brethren, you should know how to cook this bird. I was really just trying to pick something that had not been done (running out of possibilities yaknow).

We got the weekend yalls. Oh. Forgot. Duck is really, really tasty.
beers!

I grilled a couple ducks years ago. It was real greasy, and turned me off. Chris, hope you can change my mind. (Dizzy Duck Rub?)

 that is my entry! hahaha. i guess duck is a better choice than squid. i plan to smoke that breast with some garlic, s&p, and cherry chips to render off some fat, then try and crisp up the skin a bit over direct heat.
