Hi all . I will be smoking my first pig for Christmas tomorrow. about 30 lbs . Any suggestions on How long per lbs it should take or what I should do to it beforte I cook it.

I have had 4 pig roasts at our house - made a pit out of a drum and I rent the heavy duty spit. These were 60-80 pounders.
On a whole pig I had the entire chest cavity filled with sausage and vidalia onions - chicken leg quarters and sewn up - was like a treasure chest when we carved and it added flavor - you can stuff with whatever you like the sew up with butchers twine - adds a bit to the cook time but well worth it -.
