That's how we do in the 907!!! :D

You beat my personal record of 3 degrees above 0. But not often that cold down in the big city.

Have to say I don't mind not having to deal with snow and temps like that when BBQ'ing nowadays, but come August I wish I was back home.

That is one beautiful pork loin! The steak ain't bad either! :becky:

Looking nice... thinking you are the ringer for "Most Extreme Brethren" :-D

That's great! Dedication. :thumb:

I did a smoke last year when it was like -6* or so. How much fuel did it use? With two vents open and -34*, I'm guessing a bit more than normal. Consider wrapping your smoke with a welding blanket or some other type of insulation. It will help conserve charcoal, which will come in handy on a longer cook.

I had no idea thermometers went backwards like that! Here in God's Country  We don't need them to go much past 40F.

-38! I'm not sure if my blood even flows when it's that cold! :-D

A few beers help thin the blood  but up here we use the koozies to keep the beer from freezing.

Can't say what is normal my first time using lump, but had a full basket to start with used maybe 1/8 at the most. I'll take a pic when I get home. Yea blankets would definitely help on a longer cook and if its still this cold next week I'll be wrapping it up for the turkey. I got half a dozen "mexican" blanket the heavy wool ones. I always pick a few up when I go on vacation, I use them for camping and this kinda thing.

Nice Job! I guess I should not worry about getting down to 45 degrees here on the coast.

BBQ Bacon 11-18-2011 11:06 AM

Nice to know that it can be done in such snowy conditions. I have hope for this coming winter.

tony69 11-18-2011 11:49 AM

Right on Pwa! I live in Minnesota & were heading that direction as far as the cold goes. Your sending that crap my way! Fark, I'm still not ready. Thats why we drink so much, gotta keep that blood a flowin. I'm working on getting all my UDS supplies together because all I have is my 22.5'' Weber & Smokey Joe, need more cooking space. Whoever says you can't grill or BBQ year round is crazy. I do all the time, wintertime is a good excuse to slip outside to my shop & get away from rugrats for a bit! Nice looking food ya got there. Stay warm & keep that blood flowin!

You better not spread that around too much or you'll have everyone moving up there and then with all of the building all of that beautiful country will disapear. I keep saying that as soon as I am able I am going to move up there and try my hand at bush flying. Maybe start out up around Seattle with Kenmore to get some seaplane and tundra training and see where that leads. :becky:
