WSM Part

Anyone know where a guy can order the "Grill Straps" for the 22.5 Weber Smokey mountain? I found at least one place online, but not sure about it. I am considering getting these to hold my two racks and WSM water pan in my UDS build. Thanks!

You can always call Weber directly. Great customer service and they have a lot more to be ordered than what they show on their website.

Do you have to own a WSM in order to buy the parts directly from them?

Fo Sizzle My Nizzle 07-09-2013 05:39 PM

Not that I'm aware of. You would if it were a question of parts covered under warranty, but as far as I know you can call them up and order away.

Just called Weber. They said I have to own a WSM in order to order parts from them.

I saw that website. Says it takes 15-21 days to ship the part.

If you're unable to get them you can just use nuts and bolts to hold the grates and the bowl. The bowl or diffuser can sit on the third grate down.
Or perhaps you can fabricate the straps from aluminum bar stock. They seem fairly easy to configure. I personally would just stick to nuts and bolts like most every UDS build. They'll accomplish the exact same thing.

Get in touch with the folks who make the Cajun Bandit conversion kit and see if they'll sell you just the straps.

I looked at the Cajun Bandit, the kit does not include the grill straps.

I've got a Cajun Bandit and it sure does have the straps attached to the center section.

plus one! just tell them you own one...

fergolicious 07-09-2013 09:28 PM

I can't just tell them I own one. She was asking me for the serial number on my WSM before I could order the part. I get why they do that. Because Q-Heads like us want to build UDS's and possibly use some of their parts. The weird part is that we have a BBQ store in KC that sells the charcoal ring and water pans for the WSM's. Anyone can walk in there and buy them. I ordered the water pan for a WSM on the net from a store here in KC. So the Cajun Bandit has the straps already attached to the cylinder. I e-mailed Cajun Bandit. One of my team-mates owns a WSM and he is going to call Weber tomorrow and see if they will sell them to him. I will keep you guys posted. Thanks for the info.

I didn't know my WSM had a serial number:doh:
