has any one used a top from a broiler pan for a tuning plate ? I just bought a Char-Broil offset smoker and am trying to get it set up for my first cook , i already have one , and there pretty cheap

I did it on my Cousins pit and it works well. Use the whole thing, put the bottom 1/2 next to the firebox and the top next to it toward the stack.

Sounds like a good idea, give it a try and give us some feedback.

You could add some water in the pan as a heat barrier and to add moisture to your cooker.
