tuning plate ?
 
has any one used a top from a broiler pan for a tuning plate ? I just bought a Char-Broil offset smoker and am trying to get it set up for my first cook , i already have one , and there pretty cheap

I did it on my Cousins pit and it works well. Use the whole thing, put the bottom 1/2 next to the firebox and the top next to it toward the stack.

You could add some water in the pan as a heat barrier and to add moisture to your cooker.

Stop over thinking and take baby steps, Less is more sometimes the kitchen sink isn't needed a teaspoon will do.
