Philadelphia non-KCBS BBQ event

For those of you who can't make it to New Holland, there is a non-KCBS event (one day) right outside Citizen's Bank Park. The Garry Maddox BBQ challenge - August 23rd. We did this event last year and had a lot of fun - came in first in ribs and first in chef's choice. There are 4 categories: ribs, chicken, chef's choice, and Garry's challenge. He challenges you to beat his ribs and if you do, then you get 2 tickets to the world series. I'm not sure how they score that, but it's only one team that gets the world series tickets, not everyone who beats his ribs.

We'll be there.

This sounded like fun to us (not nearly as much work as a full KCBS weekend), but we will be at New Holland. Too bad they're conflicting, maybe something will change next time around that will let us do both.

That sounds like fun, I should go. Sucks about the timing with New Holland, next year it should go back to conflicting with Bel Air instead.

I was hoping to do that this year, but will be at New Holland. Too bad

Brian was going to judge New Holland again this year, but we have to go to the Maddox event and defend our titles.

How do we get in? Sounds like a good time for my team!

Great.
I will get the info for you and post it here or im you.

They give you two tickets to a Phillies game also. I really enjoyed it last year - I thought it would be too hot out there, but the weather was pretty nice.

I'll be Maddox'ing again this year. Glad I didn't get on the list for New Holland this year since we're skipping our beach week.

Was thinking about doing this this year, but I will be at New Holland

LazyRiverBarbecue 06-11-2008 11:44 AM

Hopefully they'll do this one when it doesn't conflict with ANY other events.

Good. Let's request to be next to each other again.
