This is the time of year when I have to do a lot of business travel. It's mostly a big PITA but this time I had the pleasure to visit El Segundo CA On Thursday I dined at the local market with BigMista. Meeting BigMista confirmed my thoughts from seeing him on TV, there's no better BBQ ambassador. Thanks for the hospitality!

The food was exactly what I expected. I went with the sampler. The brisket was tender, smokey and cooked to perfection. The ribs and pork were fantastic. The sausage links were spicy, smokey and just what I was looking for. And, don't get me started on the smokey, sweet heat of the pig candy.

Thanks again! It was great to get a chance to visit

California's BBQ reputation would get even better if we learned to focus our cameras...

LOL

Great time with Bigmista...

Looks like you had a great trip! One of these days I'll have to get out to that other coast and check it out. I hear civilization has finally spread that far west! :becky:

BigMista is the real deal. California is blessed to have him, and others here to give people a taste of something they otherwise would not get the chance to enjoy.

who is this mythical BigMista? :)

Seriously, with all the great Brethren that live in California, I can't believe it hasn't become a "mecca" of BBQ. Too many to name, but lots of awesome Brethren out there...

Got to meat Neil at the Royal last year...sure he doesn't remember me, but he is definitely a good guy!

California does have a bad rep when it comes to que, but there are plenty of guys who really do know what they are doing and can produce que on par with the best of them. Things will only get better from here!

There is so much good food in California it's hard for any one genre or method to stand above the others. The craze now is healthy and holistic so BBQ doesn't get much press. But I know when we vend at comps we sell a lot of food so people do like it even if the press likes to show the fancy food trucks or new 5 star restaurants. BBQ is our best hidden secret, shhh don't tell anybody!
