Been lurking around for a while, very informative site. Been reading a lot of useful information and seeing a lot of good looking "pron".
Went to my first KCBS sponsered event this summer and got to sample a lot of the competition "Q", it's just amazing the difference of competition and local restaurants. I thought I had been doing my own Q pretty well until I sampled the competition quality, I'm way behind the curve.
I don't have any fancy q-ing toys but I get by with what I have. I bought a Weber 22.5" OTG and Weber 2 burner gasser off C/L for $100 for both yesterday, pick-up tomorrow. I have a Brinkman water smoker I've burned thru several charcoal and water pans. I aquired an offset smoker recently from a relatives divorce, made by a metal fab shop out of 16" diam. pipe 1/4" thick, been trying some different modifactions trying to get a more even heat distribution, it's a fuel hog for sure. I'm medically retired, diesel truck tech.

Welcome, Benny!
Fancy Q'ing toys? Who needs 'em?! Sounds like you have what you need to make some good grub.
There are LOTS of listed mods to offsets here; just run a few searches and you'll find gold.
