If you are cooking for X number of people, how much turkey do you need?
Cooked pork looses 1/3 and then you figure 1/4 to 1/3 pound per person. Can you do this with turkeys?

I have found that a turkey cooked whole and boned will yield approximately one-third of its original weight with equal amounts of white and dark meat. For example, a twelve pound bird will yield about two pounds dark meat and two pounds white meat.
So this is right in-line with Sir Larry's advice.
