Was taking clothes out to the dryer and looked in the corner of the garage today and noticed an old friend. My Weber Kettle. Have not fired him up in a long time, or so it seemed to me. Just did grilled some burgers. Added chilli powder and jalepenos to the meat and my usual seasonings. They came out great, family went to the store after I finished the first batch, to get more meat. One kid does not even eat red meat normally, but she could not wait to taste them. I love the feeling of watching the family eat what comes off the grates. It would be nice to hear a thank you, but the empty containers the food comes in the house speaks for themselves. Let's see the TROJANS won, I got a good cook in, the dodgers may beat the giants tonight (winning in the 9th inning with GAGNE coming in to picth, Raider footbal game on TV. If I have sex tonight, then I had a perfect weekend.

I started using my kettle more and more in the past year.. to the point where the propane grills get spider webs and bee hives even in the middle of summer. Those are for quickie burgers and dogs..... but anytime i want real food...... its the kettle... Steaks cooked in the kettle over a load of mesquite chunks is almost as good as bbq brisket. :)

Even though I have a NBBD and Bandera I still use this old Weber kettle. They have a character all there own and I keep it as one of the tools that I use to cook outside. Choice is the real fun of cooking, and one size fits all has never my way of doing things. Steaks, burgers and chicken are made for the Weber, and a Weber grilled chuck roast was what got me started in BBQ. No home should be without a Weber kettle.
I just saved an 18 inch Weber "Jack Daniels" commemorative kettle from the neighbor's trash pile.
Knocked the dirt out of it - moved the legs around to where the leg support didn't fall out :D and it would roll correctly and bought a new cook grate. I need to make some wooden "handle" pieces for the top and pull handle but other than that it works great!
Price was right, too!

The Weber Kettle is a farking cooking machine. I was doing a lot of experimenting with them in MD and PA over the last couple years.
