Hello to everyone. I am rather new to BBQ. In June I smoked a brisket and Pork shoulder along with some chicken leg quarters for a party on two weber grills. They turned out wonderful but were very time consuming. I stumbled across this site looking for information on building a UDS. I have since read around half the UDS thread and can't wait to build one. It will be nice to be able to leave the smoker for more than 15 minutes. I will be doing a pork shoulder and brisket on the webers again this weekend. I am looking forward working on the UDS some this weekend.

I am a grad student and will be finishing up a masters in December. I am in the Engine Research Center and studying burning JP-8 in a Heavy Duty compression ignition engine. I enjoy working on cars and anything with an engine and building things. Spent the entire summer sanding and painting our house and just finally finished painting last weekend. Literally spent all summer doing it. Sanded the whole house with a palm orbital sander. Now all I have to do is put up vinyl siding on our porch and the insurance company will be happy.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. It was a very busy weekend. Got up at 5:00 am on my birthday to start the Webers. The meat turned out pretty good but not as good as last time. Not sure why exactly. I didn't get a chance to work on the UDS any but I did pick up a basically new (used 3 times) green weber grill with wood handles for $20. I was stoked!! I hate the new plastic handles. I will post pictures when I do get to working on the UDS.

Thanks for the invite Ron L., I was doing some barbecue myself otherwise I would have been there. I have never been to a competition and would love to see one and talk with everyone sometime. Will there be any others this year?
