View Full Version : Hello from Indiana

Thought I would introduce ourselves! I am Terry my wife's name is Lisa. New to the forum, but have had our 22.5" Weber Kettle since Feb. I have done all the typical burgers and steak numbers on it, plus dabbled in smoking some Pork Loins, chops and Chicken halves and quarters. Took on our first 9lb Pork Butt this past weekend......to die for I tell ya! Perfectly done and moist and tender....I impressed myself with dumb luck the first time out on it. 6hrs at 225-240, tending the coals every hour and rotated the Butt every two hours. Bone pulled out like butter at 6 hrs!

I have been using Hardwood Lump and getting my smoke from Maple, Apple, Cherry, and Hickory chips. I have a Smokenator on its way, should be in sometime later this week.

I came from the Gas Grill world, and in Feb was tired of the continual rebuilding and repair associated with the ones I had, so I ventured into the "live fire" arena. I will NEVER go back! We found this forum, lurked around a bit and liked what we have read. Decent and helpful bunch of folks without any flaming and insulting that is SO typical in the internet forums.

We look forward to reading and learning all we can!

Greetings Terry! Good to see someone else from the Fort on here.:welcome: Sounds like you got the same bug we have over here! I do a smoker full of meat and grill at least once every week, cooking almost all the meat we eat with smoke anymore. When we have the smell of freshly smoked meat in the house, the dog even holds out for the good stuff!:icon_smile_tongue:
