My wife always orders a BBQ ham sammy when we go out for Q. It looks to me like it's just thin-sliced regular old ham with some sauce on it. I was wondering if these joints actually smoke a regular ham and thin slice it or if it's just deli ham that they put some smoke to. I guess I'm wondering if it's just regular old cured ham or what.

The BBQ joint ribs, pork and brisket all look like mine, but the wife loves ham so I'm curious as to what to buy to cook up for her.

buy a pre-cooked ham, and smoke it.

this is just one thread, but search Smoked Ham, All terms checked and you'll get 23 more.

might need to double click it to get the link to work for some reason

Bill, I edited your link. I still do not understand how/why you are comming up with the IP 206.180.232.131 and not the domain name.

The link should work fine now.

Andy, I know a couple Q-Joint owners (one current and one former). Both quality places, their backgrounds are both linked to Sneads south of Martin City. Both these ladies used the same method of cooking "ready to eat" hams on the pit to serving temp. Then along with all the other cooked meats thier placed in a holding oven until sliced to order.

I've done a couple really cheap crappy grocery store hams and they come out quite tasty.

Looks like Mrs. S4B is getting a "ready to eat" ham thrown on the pit this weekend along with some experimental cheeken thighs. :D

Thanks for the responses guys!!!
