Greg, I almost always make "scotch eggs" New Years Day. They're a hard boiled egg with a coating of sausage (1/4" thick) rolled in bread crumbs and deepfried. Very hard to get the sausage next to the egg done without burning the outside. I usually have to finish them in the oven.
Good idea but I think they'd have to be finished after the fryer.
